Just Be Experiences

Exploring Brittany

Brittany is a land of quiet beauty — unspoilt coastline, ancient forests and medieval villages where time moves gently. Life here unfolds at its own unhurried pace.

Most guests choose to stay close to the retreat, enjoying walks through the countryside and the peace of the valley. But for those who wish to explore, there’s always the option to venture a little further — perhaps a woodland walk, a visit to a local market or an afternoon wandering the grounds of a nearby château.

Each day is shaped by how you feel and what calls to you — nothing planned, nothing rushed, simply the freedom to follow your own rhythm

Optional Gentle Outings Included in the Package

  • Visit to a Silent Abbey

The Abbey of Notre-Dame de Boquen lies in a peaceful forest, just a 10-minute drive from the house. Founded in 1137 and later beautifully restored, it is now home to a small convent that welcomes visitors. The abbey’s serene atmosphere and spiritual energy leave a lasting impression on nearly everyone who visits.

  • Jugon-Les-Lacs

    Wander Around a Beautiful Lake

Jugon-les-Lacs is a charming historic village, classified among the Petites Cités de Caractère, about a 20-minute drive from the house. Relax at a café in the main square and soak up the local atmosphere, or enjoy a leisurely stroll around the picturesque lake that gives the village its name.

  • Gentle Coastal Walk or Swim

The unspoilt Brittany coastline offers a stunning natural environment rich in wildflowers and birdlife. About a 35-minute drive from the house, it’s the perfect place for a peaceful coastal walk—or, if you’re in the mood, a refreshing swim in the sea.

An art gallery with paintings on brick walls, musical instruments on a small stage, and wooden tables and chairs in the foreground.

Creative Moments with Emma Gale

Art can be a beautiful way to return to yourself — a sensory pause that quiets the mind and reconnects you with the simple joy of creating.

Just a short walk from the retreat, artist Emma Gale, Master of Arts and founder of Studio 58, offers gentle two-hour and full-day workshops for all levels.

Her open-plan studio, set in a restored barn, and the garden outside provide a peaceful space to explore colour, texture and self-expression. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced artist, Emma’s sessions invite you to slow down, notice more and rediscover your own creative rhythm — another way of simply being.

Art workshops can be booked during your stay for an additional fee.
